Post Automatic Formatting in Calendar crashes OUTLOOK

Automatic Formatting Calendar Events

...crashes MS OUTLOOK every time!

I have "detected and repaired," reinstalled all of OFFICE and/or just OUTLOOK, run "outlook.exe /cleanviews" to no avail. As far as I have searched, no KB doc seems to cover this error/issue.

The problem has persisted since the first installation after the computer's purchase. I'm running WinXP (SP2) on a Dell Latitude D610 w/1 MB Ram. I have no other OFFICE issues that haven't been addressed by regular updates or user re-education (!).

Thank you in advance for any advice, direction to additional or more specific resources and the magic fix! This has been a very frustrating search for a solution.

This is my first post - thanks for existing.

It's nice to know your OS, but knowing your version of Office would be far more helpful. :)

No need to be sheepish, Matt. We ALL do it. I have a tendency to forget to attach my attachments all the time...

Okay. Gonna try something here.

First, clean up your hard drive. One bad file can cause anything:
http://www.officearticles.com/misc/h...hard_drive.htm

See if it helps. If not, see if any of these apply. Take your time. There's 57 reasons OL2003 can crash! I didn't see one specific to calendar auto-formatting.

Good luck!

Thanks

Def. going to follow the hard drive cleanup suggestion. Though, it's not that loaded a drive (both for the relative short life it's had and because I'm aggro about not being a digital pack-rat - probably 17 GB used of 80 avail.).

It's such a consistent crash (go to Calendar, create an Automatic Format rule within the current view using CATEGORIES as condition, OUTLOOK 2003 closes, Microsoft asks if I want to report the error, I reboot OUTLOOK), that I really wonder if someone else hasn't come across it as well.

Thanks again for the sound advice and good directions.

I am having the same problem. My operating system is Windows xp and I am using Office 2003 professional edition. I previously used the same program on my dell diminsion with no problem with the automatic calander formatting and have just now purchased a dell Aps. With theis computer I am unable to utilize this functionality as Office crashes everytime.
