Unable to access Internet options in IE
Hi,
I have recently been having problems with a malware that is re-directing some of my browser searches. I have fully up to date windows upgrades and run zonealarm firewall. Also I regularly run up to date versions of spybot, adaware, spyware detector & antvir virus scanner. The problem still persists. However I now find that when I click on Tools,Internet options in IE I get the message"This operation has been cancelled due to restictions in effect on your computer. Please contact your administrator." Can anybody offer any advice. Thanks. |

I would suggest going to the control panel and creating a new user with admin rights then log in as that user and see if the problem persists.

Unable to access Internet options in IE
Thanks 95five-0,
However, since posting my thread I have had that rare thing "a blinding light on the road to damascus". I realised that I had been tweaking my spybot SD controls and tools and had set both resident SD helper and Teatimer 'ON'. Wondering if this had caused my internet options problems I unchecked them and, hey presto, access now available. A little knowledge ....... However my original problem still persists viz something redirecting some of my searches to other web sites and none of my ant-spyware, adware or virus checkers unable to find anything. As you are now only too aware, I am a technical pygmy so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Wouldnt hurt to see if your systems hijacked. Redirecting you to another site is exactly what hijacking does.
