can ping out

was trying to help someone with their dsl they can ping out by ip and by domain name used system restore used last known good configuration they were able to surf in safe mode with networking and to down load firefox but they cannot surf in normal they have just windows firewall and service pack 2

ok besides the windows firewall is there any other firewall?
if u cant ping out try pinging the network card.
do ip config /all in command prompt and find out what your ip is
