Hello everyone!
I got a problem with Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows XP: ActiveX does not work at all, although I have enabled it in the settings. I already ran Ad-Aware SE, but the only thing it found was countless tracking cookies, Alexa and Audora stuff, all of which I had it remove. HijackThis found nothing malicious at all. I also applied Service Pack 1 for Internet Explorer from the Microsoft Website, but the problem still persists. I got no anti-virus software installed, and the only firewall I use is the built-in one. But that cannot possibly be the problem, can it? I got another computer which exhibits the same behaviour, both machines are connected to each other. I got no clue as to how to fix the problem, and it's driving me crazy! Does anyone have an idea? Best regards, Matthias Hofmann |

The problem seems to be that under a limited user account, one does not have access to the following folder:
"C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files" I tried to change access rights for that folder, but it does not seem to be a regular one. When clicking it with the right mouse button and selecting the properties option, no access right can be set. I could not remove the tick in the write protection check box either. It seems like there's no way that a limited user can use ActiveX in a web page... |
