Trouble Getting on TSF
I’ve been having a problem with logging onto TSF lately, [last month or so].
I normally go to TSF from a ‘favorites’ button in IE and about ¾’s of the time the front page comes up and it knows who I am and the last time I logged on, but all the little button /.gif’s are little squares with red ‘x’s’ in them and when I click on a forum it gives me the ‘Page Cannot Be Displayed’ message. I can Google up TSF and it doesn’t even give me the opening page just ‘Page Cannot Be Displayed’. None of the other places I log onto are effected. Again, intermittenent, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t pick out a pattern. I’ve tried twiddling with the settings mentioned in the PCBD message with no improvement. Logging out and back into Windows doesn’t help, rebooting doesn’t help. It just sometimes won’t let me log on. The latest flash is that I have an old AOL account that’s still active and if I go there, Google up TSF, it works fine. I just discovered this today. Anybody got any idea what’s goin’ on? The whole thing seems pretty random to me. It was working fine for months prior to this… BTW: XP Pro, IE6 both fully up to date. Chip in Seattle |

Resolution
Just an update... Not that anyone GaS. I like talkin' to myself....
Over the last month or so, the problem just seemed to gradually go away. I tried dozens of twiddles. Nothin' really worked. AOL continued to work 100% throughout. I must say that it would have been polite if some of you power geeks had checked in. Even if you didn't have a clue... I'm still curious as to what it was... I continue to lurk... No point in loggin' in. Chip in Seattle |
