Question IE 5 problem after uninstalling Google Search programs for desktop

I have a DSL with IE 5.0
I recently installed the Google Desktop Search Program.
I had problem with another program that is causing conflict with a .dll file so I removed the google program.
After removing I could not access the internet via IE. E-mail was fine.
When activating it showed my home page URL for about 2 seconds then the IP address and took for ever to do anything else before telling me the page was not accessible.
I tried several different sites and had the same problem.
I did a system restore to before Google Program was removed and everything worked when I accessed the internet.
What is happening to my IE when Google is uninstalled????

My System

When you uninstalled the Google Search program, did it ask you to confirm the removal of a shared DLL? If you're still having problems, try reinstalling IE.

I don't recall a alert about removing a .dll shared or otherwise? I'll try reinstalling IE and see if that helps.

You should be running IE6 not IE5

It is essential to keep your computer's operating system and programs in top condition. That means keeping up with applying patches, hotfixes and service packs. Make sure that your Operating System and Internet Explorer are up-to-date by visiting the Windows Update Site and downloading all of the Critical Updates and Service Packs.
