IE currency codes??

I have recently developed a strange problem I was wondering if anybody can shed any light on the problem. My browser now replaces most of, but not all, the £ signs on websites with the letter J. I have checked the regional settings in the control panel and confirmed that the £ sign is still available whilst using Microsoft Office applications. Any ideas?

Tools./ internet options/ general / fonts.
Sounds like it is set to a font which does not include
the £ sign
Might also want to check on the accessibility button and make sure it does not have ignore the fonts on web pages.
