IE 6 cannot connect to the internet
Hello,
I have a problem with Win XP: 1) IE 6 doesn't connect to any www site No error message, just waiting and waiting. 2) Pc-cillin doesn't connect to its update site. I think because it uses the same info as IE 6 3) IE 6 DOES connect to ftp sites just fine 4) Firefox 1.5 DOES connect to the Internet just fine. Please help! Best wishes, Truthiswithin |

Check to see if your browser connections are configured correctly.
In Internet Explorer click Tools, click Internet Options, then click on the Connections tab. |

More strange...
The connection settings are all normal. I have a dial-up connection, but it is set to "never connect", as I use ADSL through our network.
What is more strange is that based on help received in another forum, I tried typing 'yahoo.com' into the address bar in My Computer, and it did its transform into IE6 and loaded just fine. As long as I keep that window open, I can surf the net no problem. But if I close that window and open a new IE 6 window directly, no go. Thanks for the offers to help, Truthiswithin |

IE uses the internet control panel options in control panel or tools/ internet options/ connections to determine what connection to use. Normally if you have a problem , rerun the wizard there.
Firefox, has an independent setting tools/ options / general / connection settings/ connections. Now most other programs will by default use IE settings unless told otherwise. You can check in Pc-cillin , there should be an option to use IE or use custom settings.
