spyware perhaps?

I've had this problem for a while:
I have IE and firefox, and I've been using firefox for a while, which works fine, but IE wont work, it gives me this error message:

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

i called my tech support person, he installed MS antispyware on there, and after it scanned it still didnt find anything. I needed IE to update XP. well Ive just installed adaware se pro, it scans and does not find anything. any tips or programs i should try? I have no idea why this wont work, this comp is only a couple months old. it wont even do 192.168.0.1... it tries things like 192.168.0.1.net and stuff then gives up. Please help, I really need to get those updates.

Ah. That makes sense. Yeah, those things don't usually last that long. Glad I could help.
