ADSAdClient31.dll
Something is keeping me from opening my MSN Explorer. When I press the Sign-in button, it will attempt to sign-in at least 5 times. An error message then comes up on my screen that says: "We are not able to sign you in. There may be a problem with our server or your Internet connection. Please try again."
Even though I can not open my MSN Explorer, I can still got into my Internet Explorer. But, I can not open my Hotmail. When I click on Hotmail, I get a Content Advisor that tells me: "Sorry! Content Advisor will not allow you to see this site. This page may contain some or all of the following: The rating label on this page is invalid. "vz lz oz cz] "http://www.rsac.org/rating sv01.html" l get true for "http://cb2.msn.com" r[n s v l]]" is not recognized or is not the right format. You may want to notify the owner of this site." When I go to "Mozilla Firefox" button, I get an info box titled "Opening ADSAdClient31.dll" with this message: "You have chosen to open ADSAdClient31.dll which is a: Application Extension from http://rad.msn.com, What should Firefox do with this file?" Threr are two buttons below this. One says Open with - dllfile(default) and the second button says Save. Below this is OK and Cancel. I press cancel and close it and go on to my hotmail. Each time Ipress something in my hotmail, i.e., Mail, Open an email, delete, etc, I get this same info box. How do I correct this and get my MSN Explorer and Internet Explorer back up and running? Thanks for your help Last edited by pbrvet; 06-01-2005 at 11:09 PM. |

That file is how Microsoft runs it's advertisments on MSN and Hotmail (and elsewhere I suppose too). Try going here and follow the second section (about modifying your HOSTS file) and see if it helps.

ADSAdClient32.dll
I did as you suggested. When I typed in Winnt\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts, I got a message that told me that Windows cannot find Winnt\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts. To make sure I had typed the name in correctly (I did it at least 3 times to be sure) and try again. That to search for a file, I should click Start Button and the click OK. What else should I try? Thanks.

I tried sometning that I hadn't thought to do before. I went back to System Tools/System Restore. I went back to an earlier date and restored my system to that date. I seemed to work. Things, for now, are working as they should be. Thank you for your help. If this problem comes up again, I will try what you have told me to do and see if that corrects the problem. As I said, thank again for all of the assistance. People like me really couldn't get by without people like you who are willing to give a hand to other.
