HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE
I have just finished a successful thread, removing a very annoying websearch engine which hijacked my home PC, however in the process I appear to have created another problem in that I now cannot access a number of links within sites. In particular on a secure site I can't access further screens after I enter my user details. The window requesting entry of details keeps reappearing and a message saying "details entered do not match our records, yet I am certain I entered the correct details, lower case, no spaces, etc.
I also use as my thread title "HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE" as this is the screen I get on the Microsoft site when I am trying to download files, etc.The message on the main screen reads "You are not authorized to view this web page" Your help towards resolving this problem will be appreciated. Regards Victor Poots |

HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE
Hi Geekgirl:
Anticipating your next suggestion I closed off Zone Alarm Pro program from running and uninstalled Geek Superhero which I had downloaded during work on a previous home page hijack problem. With both of these not running I again attempted to enter my on-line banking details on the secure site but got rejected. Again with the statement details do not match records, however, I am certain details were entered correctly. I have also checked with my ISP (BT Broadband) and all connections and settings according to them are as they should be. Looking forward to hearing from you again. Kind regards Victor Poots |

You may have some files that got pooched in the removal process.
Let's Run the System File Checker Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in: sfc /scannow (sfc if that doesnt work) This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE
Hi Geekgirl:
Ran sfc as you suggested and things seem to be back to normal as I gained access to a secure site. I have also brought Zone Alarm Pro back on and it does not appear to be interfering with anything (yet)! Thanks for your help and I think this is as far as i need to go with this thread. I also visited the microsoft site and got through to the download page without the message "HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE" appearing on my screen. I am very impressed with the support I have got from the team at TSF since I joined. Thanks again and Best regards Victor Poots
