some links not working.

my problem is that when trying to follow certian links (like clicking on blue underlinde words or web addresses) the computer just wont automaticly go there. for some links right-clicking them and pasting the link to the address bar works but some just wont work at all. i have done countless virus scans with AVG anit virus software. and have done a lot of online scans. i use 3 different spyware scaners. i have looked through here but havent found anything to help me out. i've got SP2 installed, i use Zone Alarm Firewall, AVG anti virus. and ad-ware, Spybot Search and destroy, and the window spyware finder. does anyone have an idea whats going on? Thanks a lot for the help in advanced

Hi and welcome to TSF!

Can you tell us a little more about exactly what it DOES do when you click on a link - does it come up with an error page (if so, what), or does it just sit there doing nothing?

I have asked other people and it doesn't seem like a hijack - you've got too much protection running (good on you )

It sounds like the same problem I was having a few days ago. I finally check my browser add-ons and found 3 that shouldnt be there. I disabled them and everything starting working fine.

Someone earlier asked the same question on this webiste and ill give the same answer i gave him. OK This is what u do!

First off, the XP SP2 has a built in pop up blocker for IE, which blocks all pop up windows. This might be the cause of your problem.

You have three options for resolving this issue:

1. You can disable the pop-up blocker by opening a IE window...then go to tools>pop up blocker>Turn off Pop Up blocker.

2. Another way is go to tools>pop up blocker>pop up blocker settings. go to the bottom and change the filter lvl to either medium or low.

3. If u want the pop up blocker to be on and at a high filter lvl, hold the Ctrl key everytime u click on a link.

I presonally recommend the third option because it blocks those annoying pop-ups.

Reply back and tell me what happens.
