Internet problems
When I try to access the internet at work, Internet Explorer crashes and closes down when I try to access certain sites, or when I try to open links within other sites. A dialogue box opens saying the Internet Explorer is experiencing problems, and when I click on the report tab to find out what the details are, this is listed: C:\DOCUME~1\dmarkham\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER65.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt.
I cannot access whatever this is, and I am not technically literate enough to know why it keeps crashing. Can someone give me some information about this? Deb |

Some suggestions:
. Run your anti-spyware/anti-virus software . Repair Internet Explorer . Run the system file checker, start>run>sfc /scannow Btw, this should be moved to the IE forum. /edit: last but not least, dump IE and get Firefox Last edited by 101; 04-14-2005 at 03:50 PM. |

Yea, Firefox!! IE, fagetaboutit. Only thing you will need IE for is MS OS and Office updates and to access a few web sites that have failed to be configured to recognize alternate browsers.

Thanks so much!
Thank you all for your suggestions about my internet problems. I did download Firefox and it works much better. I'm sorry that I posted my question in the wrong section; this was my first time on the forum, but since it was such a good experience, it won't be my last!
Thanks again! Deb |

You should try fixing up that problem, nevertheless. I don't use IE either and use Firefox, but if something was wrong with it, I sure don't want to leave it that way. It might get worse and cause problems with other programs.
See if clearing out the temp folders will fix that problem: The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. Did you check your computer for any viruses/spyware? If not, make sure to do so now.
