Can not open web sites or pages

On one of my other computers (running MS Internet Explore 6 & XP) if I try to access an web site I get a “The requested look-up key was not found in any active activation context“ message. This just started happening a few days ago. What is going on and how do I fix it?

Strange thing is IE will open and access MSN home page “witch I have set as default” Or if I change the default home page it will open to that one as well I can access links from the MSN page, however when ever I type in a new web address or try to use favorites I get the message.

Tried all these fixes and did not fix the problem. Any other ideas?

Re: Can not open web sites or pages

Try one more thing

Click on start
then click on RUN
type appwiz.cpl

and hit enter

You will see Add or remove window
O the left hand side you will see ADD or REMOVE Windows components
Click on that
UNCHECK internet explorer from the list and click on next then finish

Reopen the same window and CHECK internet explorer from the list and click on next then finish

Best of luck

Re: Can not open web sites or pages

Some more step which you can try is

1. You have to just click on the Start button located on the taskbar, and select the Run command from the Start menu and type in Run command bar as %systemroot%\inf, and press the ENTER key.

2. Locate the Ie.inf file that is situated in Windows\Inf folder.

3. And right-click the Ie.inf files, and then click on the Install.

4. And finally reboot or restart the PC when the file copy procedure is complete.
