Homepage takes minutes to load

Hi, it seems to me that whenever I try to open up my internet (internet explorer) it take around a minute or two to load up. When i try to navigate away from the homepage to another site, it takes no more than a few seconds. Any helpful suggestions or tips? I have already ran Avasts antivirus scan and spybot. Thanks.

I'm not sure, I think around a month ago... I downloaded some game and movie torrents, and my computer started to really slow down, because I saw that i had used about, 150g of my 160g comp. I deleted them, and defragged my computer and downloaded some of the first programs recommended on the site, http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-xp-t...lazingly-fast/ The wierd thing is that my internet work really fast on my other comps/ laptops...
