Cry IE7 will not load

I apologize if I have missed this in any other threads but after many hours of searching forums and Microsoft Kb's I have to turn to the pro's.

When I try to load IE7 it will say connecting but never show the page it is trying to connect to. No error message ever shows either. I have tried to install IE8 hoping I wouldn't need to even try to fix the original issue but that is even worse. When I have IE8 installed and try to run it I won't even get the IE page to show. It does show in the task manager as a process though and each attempt to load again adds another iexplore.exe. I know that I do have a connection to the internet because I can use Firefox to connect to and browse the internet.

Here's what I have done to try to resolve the issue:
  1. Tools, Options, Advanced, Restore and Reset
  2. Fresh uninstall and install of IE7 via the add/remove programs option in the control panel and via the run option %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe.
  3. Rolling back to SP2 and trying to install a fresh IE7 and then IE8
  4. Reinstalling SP3 and IE7 again (stayed away from IE8 after the update to SP3 this time)
  5. Checking my Windows Firewall to see if Internet Explorer being blocked by it
  6. Turning off all AntiVirus programs
  7. Tried several different url's including going to Start, run, iexplore.exe www.techsupportforum.com
  8. Cmd prompt and netsh winsock reset
  9. I have run Malwarebytes and avast and quarantied or cleaned a few viruses and trogans that were found on the PC (didn't keep a list of their names).
  10. IEdll check - everything is successful
  11. Disabling all addon's in safe mode. (When I try to select this option in normal boot mode IE does nothing)
  12. Unchecking "enable third-party browser extensions.

I have also run a hijackthis pass and have the below log. Please help! Thank you in advance.

Re: IE7 will not load

I found the problem by doing a clean boot and narrowing down the services and startup items that might be causing the issue. The guide is found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/. The startup item that was causing this issue was a startup item called "Server". The command is c:\program files\support.com\client\lserver\server.vbs. The location is SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\RUN. I'm not sure if it's a virus/trojan or not so I just unchecked the box next to it and all seems to be fine. Scans with Avast, Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes say the PC is clean so I'm guessing it is just an incompatibility. Thanks.
