Re: best IE

For security reasons I would say IE8. It has been out long enough and is now stable to use IMO. Not updating your OS can leave you vulnerable to attack.

Re: best IE

The SmartScreen Filter, which was known as the the Phishing Filter in Internet Explorer 7, warns users that they are about to visit a known phishing site. Works similar to the McAfee Site Adviser tool. The Smartscreen Filter offers Improved user interface, Faster performance than the Explorer 7 the Phishing Filter, New heuristics and enhanced telemetry, Anti-malware support for blocking unsafe downloads and Improved group policy support. You can always disable this feature if you feel the need to but I would feel safe being warned that I might be stepping into a bad situation if I proceeded any further.

This link will show you the End User Features in IE8, you should look them over Engineer Babar
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/int...es.aspx#filter

Also, you might want to Learn how to Master the Useful New Features in Internet Explorer 8. As the default browser in Windows 7 and a recommended update in other versions of Windows, you can expect to start seeing it more and more. Master the eight features, and you'll find yourself ahead of the pack in this new browsing world.

Re: best IE

I don't know what you want me to say? A feature like the Smartscreen Filter, which constantly analyzes a website will however slow down the web browsing.
Microsoft has redesigned the Phishing Filter which was previously in IE7 to make it less intrusive. Unfortunately, the SmartScreen Filter is still intrusive and still slows down web browsing.
There are also other features which will slow it down, like RSS readers, Java Plug-in 2 SSV Helper is also an unnecessary add-on. Let me give you another great link to optimize your browser(s)

In conclusion, the main question that was being answered in this thread was "which IE is the best 6 or 8." And I think I have answered it correctly, as you know some sites like YouTube are stopping support for IE6 therefore a newer version is going to be required. So again my answer is IE8 is your best choice.
