Please help-- internet history in drop-down menu not deleting!

hi, i am using windows vista 64 bit and internet explorer 8. i've run CCleaner and also a feature on Trend micro internet security that is supposed to delete all internet history and temp files and cookies and what not, but i notice that if i click up on my URL bar and hit the drop down arrow, old sites are still there! i've also gone into tools > internet options > general tab > and then hit DELETE under "browsing history" and had everything checked. i also turned off auto complete.

any ideas?

I may be mistaken, but I think that is a function of the 'inline auto complete' routine.
