Google not recognizing widescreen
I just noticed this on n my Acer AO751h with a 1366x768 display. When I navigate to Google in IE, Firefox, or Google Chrome, the Google search homepage appears centered, but the search results page appears askew, like this:
It's as though Google isn't recognizing the entire area of the monitor. Is this a computer problem or a problem with Google? |

Re: Google not recognizing widescreen
It isn't so much a "problem" as a style choice made by the programmers. Not everyone has the same resolution monitor, so web programmers have to make decisions about how large or small to make their pages. Too large and people with smaller monitors will not be able to see everything. Too small and people with larger monitors will have a bunch of extra screen space.
You are in the latter category. The web page was clearly designed so it could be viewed on smaller monitors. Like a paragraph in a word processor, the programmer can decide if he or she wants the web page to be centered or left-oriented. Your search page is centered, and your results page is left-oriented. In both pages, there is the same amount of blank space -- it's just evenly distributed on both sides in the search page, and all on the right side on the results page. If it thoroughly bugs you, you can zoom the content until it fits, or make your browser window resizeable (the middle button in the top right of the window) and re-size the window to the proper width to see the whole page and nothing but the page. Good luck! |
