IE8 not opening links in tabs

Hi all,

So I noticed my IE8 is not opening links in a new tab (in the same window). It opens it in a new window each time. I have all my TAB settings as follows:

Enable tabbed browsing: CHECKED
warn me when closing multiple tabs: unchecked
always switch to new tabs when created: unchecked
enable quick tabs: CHECKED
open only the first homepage when IE starts: unchecked
enable tab groups: CHECKED

when a new tab is opened, open: THE NEW TAB PAGE

when a pop-up is encountered: ALWAYS OPEN POP-UPS IN A NEW WINDOW

open links from other programs in: A NEW TAB IN THE CURRENT WINDOW



I can right click> open in new tab... but that kind of defeats the purpose of setting my settings to have all links open in new tabs...

Is anyone else experiencing this problem or know a solution for it? I appreciate any help, thank you in advance---

* open a new "Command Prompt" window by right-clicking and selecting "Run
as administrator";
* at the prompt, run the command "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll".
