Cry whats worong with ie

internet explorer not showing the webpages for e.g when i open windowsupdate site ,it shows a blank screen and status bar shows DONE.
it all started wen i updated the internet explorer to version 8.i then uninstalled tht version.currently i am using ie 7. Still same problems.
yahoo messenger is also showing some problems like the text is not visible in IM window.
Many other applications also affected.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player.it didnt worked for me.
nothing worked that is available on net as a solution.
I am using windows Xp sp3.I dont want to format the pc.
this forum is my last hope.

Chances are it is a problem with a IE add on so you can either click tools> manage add ons and check what add ons are running and try disabling one at a time until you find the one at fault or you can try clicking tools>all programs>accessories>system tools>Internet Explorer with no add ons and if no problems then a add on is surely at fault.

i have tried it.its not solving my problem.
and also look at yahoo messenger prob.

Do you have another browser like firefox perhaps to try?

i have other browsers opera,flock n firefox.all working fine.
but this problem in internet explorer creating problems for other applications also like yahoo messenger etc.

Only other thing I can think of is upgrading again to IE8 and on the other hand that might create other problems but may possibly resolve the problem as well.
