I am on Windows XP and have look ed through many pages here about being connected and being unable to load a webpage of any kind. I've tried lots of things suggested here but so far none work. SO, I'm just asking fresh now. I'm trying both Firefox and IE, I've configured my IP and DNS, even reset my winsocks to no avail. Says I'm connected at full strength, pinged and got 4 out of 4, but still webpages won't load. I can hook my laptop up without difficulty, but my home computer (which I just brough back from my work - it wasn't connected there) has been reconnected here at home and now just won't load pages. any suggestions?

Re: Connected but can't load
Are you connecting via ethernet cable or wireless?
Also, have you installed any software, e.g. anti-virus lately? Has anything changed that you are aware of since immediately prior to your loss of connectivity. |

Re: Connected but can't load
The only that happened (to my knowledge) was I took my pc to work offline on some things, it's been there for a couple of months, and now I brought it back home and had to reset my IP and DSN back in, and it states I'm good on the connectivity, but no pages...

Re: Connected but can't load
Sounds like a possible DNS issue.
Where do you pick up DNS from? Can you open a command prompt and type in: nslookup www.google.com? (Without the question mark!) What reply do you get? Last edited by Prometheus_Fire; 07-04-2009 at 01:28 PM. Reason: Just another point. |

Re: Connected but can't load
Supply the following information please.
OS running on all affected systems Make & models of all equipment (routers, network cards, modems). Wired or wireless? What wireless encryption is in use? (WPA, WPA2, WEP, None) Browsers being used (Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera,...) What security software is installed? (Firewalls, AV, Spyware, Malware,...) Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd) Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine. ipconfig /all ping www.google.com ping 74.125.53.99 Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all > alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents.
