[SOLVED] no internet?
I have a weird problem. I have an XP computer. A while ago the internet just stopped working. I know it's not the connection because i can log in to live messenger and it works fine! I can chat, but when I go into Internet Explorer it says that there is a 404 error to either check my internet connection or to retype the website. I go to the task manager/networking and open internet explorer. usually I would see activity going on, but this time it stays still at 0% When I go to safe mode the internet works perfectly fine. only when i'm using the normal accounts it's when I get that error. I checked my firewall to see if it was blocking internet explorer but it's not. Any ideas?

Re: no internet?
What IE version are you using (IE7,IE8)?
also if you can open a browser window click on tools in the menu bar then choose internet options. When the internet options window opens up select the connections tab. Then click on LAN settings button near bottom, take a look at what check boxes are checked or unchecked and post back...

Re: no internet?
Hi Bob,
you don't mention "who's" firewall you are using, but try reducing the security level just a tad, see if that works. (had 2 puters do this this past 2 weeks, seemed to be an update from 3rd party Internet Security software adjusting this setting) Both mine fine now. NT. |
