Can I stop quicktime slowing down pages?
Hey,
Ive had this problem for a long time but never bothered to try and get it fixed. Anyway on my computer, If i click a link to any image other than a .jpg, my brower opens the image up through quicktime and this takes a really long time and doesnt allow to me zoom or do anything. Another thing is when I open .midi files it opens them through quicktime instead of windows media player and sometimes it simply causes the browser to crash. I suspect its also the cause of a few websites with embedded videos that try to run through it being unreasonably slow or simply not display at all, since they work fine on the other computers on my house where everything runs through WMP Is there a way I can stop it opening anything through quicktime? im tempted to just delete it alltogether but dont know how that would affect the operation of the rest of my computer... I have no idea what it is used for thanks in advance |

Right click the file, hit open with > choose program. For example all audio files, choose windows media player and tick the box where it says "always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
That ought to fix your problem The other way would be to go to windows media player. At the top bar, hit tools > options > file types tab. Adjust as neccesary
