Internet ERxplorer 8 Error Messages

I have on three occasions, during Microsoft Updates, been offered IE8 and each time I have accepted the update and attempted to install IE8.
On each occasion I get the following messages;

Ie4uinit.exe – Ordinal not found
The ordinal 654 could not be located in dynamic link library iertutil.dll
Rundll32.exe – Ordinal not found
The ordinal 672 could not be located in dynamic link library iertutil.dll
Rundll
Error loading c:\windows\system32\iedkcs32.dll
The operating system cannot run %1

...and IE8 will not open.
On each of my attempts I have reverted to IE7 which works just fine.
Should I be doing something before I install IE8, or should I just accept using IE7?
I am operating Windows XP Home Edition.

Re: Internet ERxplorer 8 Error Messages

You can try disabling your security programs first before installing IE8, make sure nothing is running while installing IE8, if still doesn't work then use IE7 for the mean time. Give it like a couple of months and try installing IE8 again.

Re: Internet ERxplorer 8 Error Messages

I am having this problem also. It occured immediately after installing IE8 and a Java update.
After a restart, got the error: error loading c:\windows\system32\iedkcs32.dll the system cannot run %1.
Any ideas?

Re: Internet ERxplorer 8 Error Messages

Hey,

I am also experiencing the "Ie4uinit.exe – Ordinal not found" and ""The ordinal 654 could not be located in dynamic link library iertutil.dll" problem after I updated my IE 7 to IE 8.

I reinstalled IE 8 with my security programs disabled. The problem was not solved.

Then I unistalled IE 8 (went back to IE 7) and the problem was still not solved.

Because of this I cannot use my keyboard in any websites to type in passwords etc. Quite annoying! If anyone maybe has any ideas about how I can fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Internet ERxplorer 8 Error Messages

I'm still waiting for a solution!
No one seems to know how to resolve the problem, and I can't find any pointers on MS support sites.
Suppose we'll just have to soldier on with what works and fingers crossed.

Cry Re: Internet ERxplorer 8 Error Messages

I have the same problem "ie4unit.exe The ordinal 654 could not be located in the dynamic link library iertutil.dll" after a update IE7 to IE8 via Windows Update.
I do not dare to boot the server since it's a DC who is running DNS, DHCP and AD.
When I click on services ikon I get a Window (Windows Internet Explorer)
An error has occured in this dialog.
Error: 54
Unspecified error

Do any of you have a solution.?
Can IE8 be uninstalled without a boot?
