'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'
Please Help!
I Know there have been other threads made with this same issue, but I cannot seem to resolve the problem. My computer runs Vista Home Premium, and Internet Explorer 7. For the past three days now, my laptop which runs off a wireless internet connection, has been displaying the message 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' whenever I try to load a page. But, when I go to diagnose Connection Problems, I get the result 'Windows did not find any problems with this computer's network connection'. I can use such programs as MSN Messenger and Yahoo fine, so it's not a connection problem. Also, my other computer works perfectly fine, with no IE problems at all. Because Internet Explorer won't work, programs associated with it will also not run, with the connection failed. I have scanned my computer for viruses and used Malwarebytes, and have found no infections. Any help would be much appreaciated! I Have tried numerous other troubleshooting steps and forum results available, all not fixing the problem. I've run out of help resorts - I'm willing to try anything!! Thanks again in advance. I'm at my wits end! Last edited by Kit-Kat; 06-13-2009 at 10:27 PM. |

Re: 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'
I'm thinking the firewall could be blocking something? As Internet Explorer worked in Safe mode.
I also downloaded Firefox, and that did not work either. PLEASE - I Really need some help!!! |

Re: 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'
Disable all security software. Note: some programs need to be completely uninstalled to stop interfering with the system.
What security software are you running?

The security software I have on my computer is AVG. Also, AVG cannot update either due to the Internet problem. |

Re: 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'
Was there a previous installation of Norton before you installed AVG? Uninstall AVG to see if it helps.

Yes - My laptop had a trial version of Norton when I first bought it, but is now expired. Thanks, I'll try that!! Should I also uninstall Norton because it may be interferring with the Internet, and I do not use it since it expired a while ago? I'll tell you how I go! |

Re: 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'
I FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!
Damn, it was so simple in the end! Why didn't it work earlier?! All I did was install Firefox, but this time I didn't match the settings with Internet Explorer, and that worked. Then, when I opened IE, it asked me if I wanted to make it my defult page, and I said yes. SO EASY! Now, everything else is working, too! ![]() I read another member having a similar problem and resolving it the same way, so one such thing, so frustrating to deal with, is so easily fixed. Lorjack - Thanks SO much for the support and help! This case is offically solved! (Untill further problems arise) |
