IE8 crashing with faulting module urlmon.dll (Fix)
This is the same fix I sent out a few weeks ago for Internet Explorer 8 moving extremely slow if you applied the immunization of Spybot. The immunization process adds more than 10,000 domains to the restricted sites which IE8 can’t handle. Now instead of moving slowly, the browser will crash with a faulting module of urlmon.dll
To use this file: 1. Download and unzip the contents of DelDomains.zip 2. Right click on the unzipped file (DelDomain.inf) and chose Install 3. Double check that the restricted sites have been deleted a. Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Internet Options b. Click the Security Tab, Restricted Sites icon, and then the Sites button c. Confirm that the list of Restricted Websites is blankThis may come up often since IE8 is being pushed out by Microsoft Updates automatically. Below is the full Event Log error: Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 8.0.6001.18702, faulting module urlmon.dll, version 8.0.6001.18702, fault address 0x0003e819. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Hope this can help a few people out there. (I apologize if I posted in the wrong forum.)
