I am trying to open IE 6.0 on my laptop. I am running Windows 2000 5.0 Service Pack 4
I am connected to my home network. I have an icon saying the network is working and an icon saying I am connected, but when I open IE it briefly check proxies and then says "page cannot be displayed". Somehow it is not making the connection to the network. In "tools, connection settings" I have ticked "automatically detect settings" and ticketed "use automatic configuration script" the script is http://globalproxy:8081/proxy.pac I use the laptop when travelling and am always able to connect to hotel networks, but not when I get home. The lapyop was configered by my former company and I do not have administrator rights on it so my options are limited. Any suggestions before I chuck it and buy a new machine! |
