OS: Windows Vista Basic
|
Ok, first off, I DO have Windows Vista Basic.. The cursed Vista that I hear is soo bad but I haven't had any problems with besides ONE program, of which I found a way to get around without using anyways. (It was for a game, nothing important). My browser is Slimbrowser, which is why I'm posting here. Slimbrowser is basically Internet Explorer with a few more bells and whistles, though I'm sure IE has caught up and they're about the same now.
ANYWAYS... Everything was working fine one day.. Then Adobe Flashplayer (Or something close to that name) wanted to update, so I updated it.. What did it do after updating? No longer acts like it's there. If I go to any youtube video, of which I was able to watch prior to the update, all I now get is "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." The last sentence "Get the latest Flash player." is a link, so I click on it, and it tells you to "Agree and install now" but when I click that, I Get the famous, "One or More ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either: 1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. As a result, the page may not display correctly." So basically I can't play any streaming videos because of the flashplayer error, and I cannot download any flashplayers due to the ActiveX error, and I have googled and searched through forum after forum for a fix. I have literally taken down every security feature I had, set all the settings to Enable automatically, or the least secure option I had, turning down all safety measures to minimal or off, whichever I could set it too... NOthing works.. So.. Is this a Vista problem? Or are other people getting this problem because the last update was bugged? I would like to make a note that I went into the Adobe folder and found a "Setup" file, of which allowed me to "Fix" the program itself, then needed a restart. That didnt' work either. |

Re: ActiveX and Flashplayer ERROR after an update?
Hello Orothe,
I don't know about Vista (so I speak for myself), but with XP IE 7 you can choose: tools>manage add-ons>activate/deactivate add-ons And there you can activate/deactivate or even delete ActiveX-controls. There is a Help list there in the lower left corner that tells you more. Maybe someone can explain better or further than I did. I have a similar problem. |

Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot to tell you - there is an easy way to fix this :)... I believe.
Tools>Internet options>Security tab>Zone:Internet (already chosen) choose Customized... and there you can see "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins - choose "Activate"! May not be the first "ActiveX controls and plug-ins" setting because I have mine deactivated. Just tamper with those settings! I hope you'll fix it!
