Reading a Number on a page in IE7
My tech guy tells me this cannot be done. Prove him wrong.
I am running XP visiting a website optimized for IE7. I have to log in to this website using a secure USB key. Once I have logged in, there is a number on one page that changes from time to time. I need to know when that number changes, particularly if it goes up. When the number goes up I want to have a local program on my PC send an SMS message to my cell phone. If it can show me the old number and the new number, even better. But my tech guy tells me that because the page can only be seen when I am logged in, and my USB key is plugged in to my PC, that there is no way for him to electronically get at that number. Apparently it is on the wrong side of the USB key. But who am I going to believe, my tech guy, or my lying eyes? ![]() Surely, if I can see the number on the screen, there is a way for my PC to grab that number and text or email it to me. I am not looking for some super sophisticated ultra hacker thing, just something to read a number on the darn screen. It means that new data has been added to the site, and there are new pdfs available to download. There is more to it, I want a program to navigate to a page on the website and autodownload any new pdfs. But I am willing to do that manually if I can just get immediately notification when new pdf's become available. Little help! Hairy |
