IE6 Error message - Windows cannot find ('null')

Error message - Windows Cannot Find "(null)"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Guys,
Just joined this forum, but I admit I am not very technically minded, but I hope someone can help.

I recently had a virus which erased my desktop. And have now got it back. I had IE and Firefox installed but they started conflicting with each other.
I read elsewhere that using System Restore will help, I tried it but now when I try to click on any link it says - Windows Cannot Find (Null). Make sure you typed the name correctly, etc.
I have just deleted Firefox.

Hope someone can be of help,
Many thanks in advance.

Re: IE6 Error message - Windows cannot find ('null')

You should scan your computer for the viruses and malwares.

You can follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Scan your computer by using any updated antivirus program.
2. Try to install and download the "Antimalwarebytes" (freely available)
3. Try to update "Antimalwarebytes".
4. Scan your computer using the "Antimalwarebytes".
5. Follow the same procedure for "Superantispyware" as you done for "Antimalwarebytes".
6. Delete all the internet temproray files.

Re: IE6 Error message - Windows cannot find ('null')

I am currently running SpywareDoctor. Which I have been informed that this isnt the best program to use. Its updated and does not detect anything.
The other problem is that with the null messages in IE6, I'm unable to download or update anything because I get the same (null) error message.
I'm handcuffed. please help.

Thanks so much

Re: IE6 Error message - Windows cannot find ('null')

techservices24, you are not permitted to give malware removal instructions in the Microsoft Support Forum. Actually you are not permitted to give them anywhere on this forum.

vargz, welcome to TSF

The security team can help you with this. You are probably still infected. We cannot assist you with this issue here in the Microsoft Support Forum.

Look over these http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html
If you cannot complete any of the steps for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed, and post your logs in Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help; where an Analyst will assist you. However, it is very important to make mention of any of the steps that you were not able to complete.

After you’ve posted your logs, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are very busy.
