Problems with Yahoo Mail (and other sites)
This is a very weird problem where I can only get Yahoo to respond to my first request in a window. For example, I can type "mail.yahoo.com" in the IE address window and the site will come up. But, if I click on "Inbox" (or one of my other folders), I get "The page cannot be displayed". Even if I go back and type "mail.yahoo.com" again in the same window, I get the same error.
HOWEVER, if a open a new window and, instead of clicking on the folder name: 1. I "right click" on the folder and choose "Copy shortcut" 2. Close that IE window 3. Open a new IE window 4. Copy the shortcut into the new IE window's address bar then I can get access to my folder. From there it's the same problem...clicking on an e-mail gets the dreaded "Page cannot be displayed" error, but if I right-click, copy the shortcut, and paste it into a new IE window then I can read my e-mail. Annoying, to say the least. I first thought it was a problem with Yahoo, but then I started noticing similar issues with Ebay (can't get to "My Ebay" pages after logging in unless I do the "cut & paste" routine described above). This all started on my work PC last week (and my boss mentioned problems accessing Yahoo as well). I suspected the problem might be with our virus software, but I still have the issues even when I kill that process. I've tried killing almost every other process that might be Spyware but nothing seems to help. My bet is on some of the IE security settings, but I've looked through these forums and tried enabling just about everything...haven't found the solution. Just thought I would post and see if anyone has ever seen anything like this? Thanks so much. -Tracy |
