Most youtube videos get stuck after a few seconds

Hi

I've tried everything YouTube suggested to fix this problem except this "This might also be caused by another streaming application such as Quicktime fighting for the stream. Please check streaming applications installed on your computer like RealPlayer, Quicktime, and Windows Media Player and ensure they are not enabled as the default player."

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to check to see that other streaming applications are not enabled as the default player.

Thankyou

Click start, and then look for the "Set program access and defaults" click on that, and you should be able to set your default media application from there.

Re: Most youtube videos get stuck after a few seconds

When I first dsicovered YouTube, the videos would start, play for 4 seconds, then stop and then 30 seconds, the video would start again, play for 4 seconds, then stop again. It took me the months to finally figure out (That's how stupid I am) that YouTube doesn't work, if one has dial-up. One has to have high-speed interenet, in order to watch videos on YouTube.

Re: Most youtube videos get stuck after a few seconds

Hi

Thanks to both of you for your quick responces to my question, I will try your suggestion and hopefully I'll be finally able to watch you tube vids on my own computer. I know it's not my internet connection because we do not have dial up anymore. We used to have it and I know what it was like. You used to have to wait an hour at least before you could actually watch a video all the way through. Now we have DSL and You tube works fine on all the other comps in the house but mine, even on a comp that had a smaller processor than mine a worse video card than mine, and way less ram than mine, so I know it's not those probolems. Anyway thanks for your suggestions.

Re: Most youtube videos get stuck after a few seconds

Hi

Yes I have uninstalled the Flash Video Player and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player 10, and still no luck. I've tried every suggestion that You Tube gave except making sure that QuickTime and Windows Media Player etc aren't fighting for the stream, I know where to get to the Set Program Access and Defaults, but not sure how to go about changing what's there or adding my Adobe Flash Player to the list there. Right now this is how it looks

O Computer Manufacturer

O Microsoft Windows

O Non-Microsoft

O Custom

O Use my current Media Player

O Choose a default Media Player

O Windows Media Player O Enable access to this program

O Quick Time Player O Enable access to this program

The circle for custom is filled in, the circle for Use my current Media Player is filled in, and both the circles for Enable Access to this program have a check in them.
If You Tube is supposed to use Adobe Flash Player, then why is it not listed and if its supposed to be listed, how do I get it on the list?

If you could help me with this, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much
