[SOLVED] toolbar pop-ups

Everytime I open a new homepage, a "welcome to the google toolbar" window comes up. When I click on "bookmarks" in the google toolbar, there is an "access your bookmarks from any computer" window that pops up. This happens every time. Is there a way to stop this annoyance? Thanks!

Re: toolbar pop-ups

Hi, welcome to TSF

Do you have Google Toolbar installed? Have you tried uninstalling it?

Have you run any malware scans yet?

Re: toolbar pop-ups

Thanks for the response. Yes I have a google toolbar installed and I have McAfee and Spy Hunter. I don't know what a malware scan is.

Re: toolbar pop-ups

What is your home page currently set to? Have you tried making it blank?

To disable the "access your bookmarks from any computer" message, click the Sign-In button on the toolbar, enter your username and password, click the synchronization Sign-In button, select 'Restrict Toolbar settings to this computer' and click 'Yes, limit settings to this computer'.

Malware is a general term for viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. I originally thought the message might have been caused by an infection, but after reading more on the Google toolbar it looks like it's a legitimate message.
