Internet explorer not working

hey guys just help me out.
i am having a problem in starting the internet explorer. whenever i start IE i get the message " This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. create an association in the folder option control panel."
Please guys show me some solution.

click start => run and type in iexplore and press enter, do you gte the same message
