Can't view .swf online

I run Vista and IE 7. I get nothing but a blank page when I visit a site with a .swf on it. I used to, but that suddenly stopped. I am sent links to such sites frequently and the presentation just won't load. I have installed the proper software from Adobe time and again, but still, nothing happens. Do I need a check in a box in my Internet Options/Tools? I can see other types of videos.

Re: Can't view .swf online

I already had those downloads, but I tried again. There's no shockwave 11 in my C:Windows/system32/Macromed folder; just shockwave 10. I have no link to any sites where there is a .swf, so I can't test it. It works at the Adobe site, but then, it did before the downloads; just not at personal sites.

Re: Can't view .swf online

This may be weird, but I can't see any other reason for it. I can see the Flash presentations on sites whose URL is emailed by other PC users. I can't see them when sent by a Mac user. He's copying the URL from the address bar in his browser. When I shortened the URL to the original dot com name of the site, I could see it. Is this the problem or a common anomaly?
