mshtml.dll registration problem

My computer with windows XP Home edition was working fine until I contracted a virus. Two to be exact: koobface worm and fakeav trojan horse. After isolating the infected files in quarantine, my IE 7 would not connect to the internet directly, but it would connect via a hyperlink in an incoming email. I am receiving email in Outlook.

I've seen that some advise removing IE7 and reverting back to IE6, which seems to work for some people. But I can't see how to remove IE7 from my system. I've also tried some other quick fix attempts, but they are not taking. When I tried regsvr32mshtml.dll, it fails.

I don't know what to do now?

there is a chance that you still infected and thats why your having problems.
