Problem: Certain pages won't load on my web browsers

I have a dell computer, windows xp, use bellsouth internet, and i have mozilla firefox, internet explorer, and google chrome. For some reason, starting two days ago, certain sites, or parts of sites refused to load. These websites are accessible on other computers. One website is veoh.com. If i were to transfer from any other website, say yahoo.com, to veoh.com, when i click to go there the web browser borders change to the site but the main page still stays on yahoo.com, looks like it is continuing to load. Only certain sites are affected, such as veoh, My Ebay on ebay.com. Also my brother's profile on his computer is unable to use the internet at all, with the page stuck on a blank endless load. I use avg and avast antivirus. please help fix this problem, or direct me to a proxy site where veoh can work.

welcome to the forum

first of all you shouldnt have more then one antivirus:

Here is a quote from an article:

Quote:
Now, one piece of advice that applies equally to AVs and firewalls. You only need one of each! Having more than one firewall and AV can cause possible conflicts and system instability. Although you may think you have more protection by having more than one of each, it could cause you problems you were not expecting.
Click Here for the original article.

So please if you have more than one Antivirus or Firewall choose the one you want to keep and use and uninstall the rest.

do you have this problem in all browsers or just 1e

what version of ie is it

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll get on to removing some antivirus program. My computer's an windows xp.
This problem is occurring on all of my web browsers. FireFox seems to work the best now, but regardless, all of my web browsers won't load up certain sites.I updated my IE to 8 beta, and FireFox is version 3.0.4. I also downloaded Google chrome. This problem started before i updated anything, i updated because i thought the problem lies within the web browsers. I scanned my computer for some viruses, BUT THAT DIDN'T SEEM TO AFFECT THE PROBLEM.

Re: Problem: Certain pages won't load on my web browsers

it worked a bit, as i can get on veoh.com now. But the computer still isn't fixed, as some sites still have trouble loading up. The best web browser working now is google chrome, with IE ramdomly connecting and firefox crashing at times. My brother's profile, he is only able to surf the web on google chrome as the other two web browsers are unresponsive.

Re: Problem: Certain pages won't load on my web browsers

DMfight, sounds like a DNS issue. Check your PC's DNS and the DNS of the router if you have one. I'm assuming you don't have a static IP, so make sure your PC and router is set to Obtain DNS automatically.

Thanks

Re: Problem: Certain pages won't load on my web browsers

DMfight, click start, run, type ncpa.cpl, click ok. Right click on Local Area Connection, left click properties. You may need to scroll down to see Internet Protocal (TCP/IP). double click on it. Make sure the Obtain DNS server address automatically is selected. If it's not selected select it and click ok. click ok again then close the last window and give IE a try.
