how to find a downloaded page
Hello
I am using a free program in internet explorer (www.starfall.com) to teach a child to read and write on an old computer that has a small hard drive and an unreliable internet link. I am happy to have found that once I click on one of the chapters of this on-line teaching program in Internet Explorer that the chapter is not only useable while I am on line, but can also be accessed and operated via internet explorer for many days afterwards - ie when I am online. this leads me to think that the computer must somehow download the whole chapter and store it somewhere in its memory. My question is a simple one: where??? the reason I ask is this. As I said the computer we are using for this purpose is an old one with a small hard drive that is now full. But we want to keep "downloading" and using more chapters of this free program offline. To do this my idea is a simple one - locate the "downloaded" segments of the chapters on the hard drive and store them on a USB flash drive that can be plugged into the computer, so we can continue to access the "downloaded" chapters whenever we want (online or offline) yet at the same time clear up space on the hard drive so that more chapters can be downloaded. problem is no matter how hard I look I cannot find the location of these files on the hard drive. you can try this for yourself. (1) Go to www.starfall.com (2) open the "stories" program and play a story (eg Zac the Rat) (3) go offline and play the same story in internet explorer so far easy. Now the tough bit: (4) find out where this story is on your hard drive??????? and how to delete it from there and shift it to another location (eg desktop) ?????where it can also be opened by internet explorer?????? obviously I could get a computer with a bigger hard drive or a more reliable internet connection - but that is not an option for us. so any advice most welcome |
