Java Connection Problem

I would so appreciate some help, I am beyond frustrated now.
Last week, I tried to install the new Vista update and it would not install. I contacted Microsoft and one of their so called 'experts" did a work around to install the update. After that my internet connection stopped working. I uninstalled the update and then since then I have been unable to access websites that require Java (ie: Pogo). I have installed and uninstalled Java numerous times to no avail. At this point now, I cannot even open the Java Console, I cannot connect to the internet with Mozilla....What a mess!!!

Can someone help??? Please??
