IE7 New tabs and windows slow to open

Hello all!

Hopefully someone out there can give me some suggestions on this.

Version of IE (Internet Explorer): 7.0.5730.11

Operating System: Windows XP Home (running Avira AntiVir Personal Antivirus, and Online Armor Firewall)

What the problem is: For a while now, I have noticed more and more IE's sluggish behaviour in terms of opening up a new tab or window. Whereas it should open quite quickly, I noticed a 'stutter' so to speak, as it takes quite some time to initially launch IE, open a new tab, or open a new window. It is roughly about a 5-10 second delay usually.

What you have tried: I am almost positive this is an IE Add-on issue as I have launched IE 7 without add-ons enabled, and the difference is amazing. Tabs open instantaneously, and windows much quicker than with add-ons enabled. I have tried using IE with add-ons with both my antivirus and firewall disabled, but yet again, it was still quite sluggish.

Give detail explaining your problem: I downloaded toolbar cop and here is the log I get from it. Hopefully someone can give me some hints on what I can possibly disable.

Re: IE7 New tabs and windows slow to open

We have same problem with IE on few computers (all running XP home, but different HW and SW), and the problem started with latest automatic update (few days ago).

Re: IE7 New tabs and windows slow to open

Thanks for the reply!

So you're chalking this up to automatic updates? Good to know.

Has anyone found a work around for this, or possibly have another explanation?

Thanks again! -Phrozen44

Re: IE7 New tabs and windows slow to open

Disable the "Java Plug-in 2 SSV Helper" add-in.
Close IE.
Re-open IE and see if opening tabs is quicker.

This is a bug that has been reported to Sun Developer Network.
