Explorer problem when opening movie files.

I am running 2 computers with windows sp3.The slower of the 2 with an Asus motherboard has a problem when I open a file containing either wmv video clips uploaded from my camera or certain downloaded movies.I get the "Windows explorer has detected a problem and has to close" message. If I ignore the message and "open with" VLC or Windows media player, it plays. But when I click on the message it crashes and goes back to my desktop. The faster computer with exactly the same files, no problemo.I have tried isolating the offending files to 1 folder and burning it to a disc. The same problem when I open from the disc but not on a DVD player.I got a message once when re-booting that I may have a driver conflict. But it has not repeated and I am wondering whether to uninstall all my media players and start again.
Any suggestions?

Re: Explorer problem when opening movie files.

I started removing video players and found "MPCSTAR" was causing the problem.Any video editing software was being corrupted by this player.
