IE8 not loading google.co.uk as home page in new tab.

So yeah I committed the dastardly crime of installing something BETA by microsoft.

Version of IE (Internet Explorer): 8 Beta 2
Operating System: XP SP2
What you have tried: Changing the homepage to microsoft.com works strangely...
What the problem is: I have set the options in IE8 so that whenever I open up a new tab it loads my home page. However it gives my the page cannot be displayed problem. the funny thing is whenever I refresh on press homepage after doing so it loads the page, so its nothing to do with my connection.
Give detail explaining your problem: See above.
If you get any error message please post them: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the entire internet who has this problem :( I have searched everywhere on google.

Exact same problem with Vista SP1. Page can not open with google.fr as star page, but ok with any other. Same problem with antivirus and firewall disabled.
Refreshing page solves it. Quiet strange.

Exactly my problem with new IE8 final on XP SP3.

My startpage is google

Just clicking on diagnostic button refreshes screen and google appears

Sometimes connection is slow, google appears
Most times even new IE8 instance or new tab:

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Google toolbar or IE7pro may be responsible.

Seems to be IE7pro and max server connections.

But second XP on same machine, same firewall, same antivirus, but less installations, IE8 and IE7pro are working perfect.

I had these problems immediately after updating AVG 8.0 to 8.5

Fixed by disabling the AVG security toolbar in IE8

But I am using AVG 7.5 and there is no toolbar
