IE7, tabs, VERY slow loading
Ok this is pretty specific so ill detail exactly what happens. The issue is with IE7 and it suddenly performing extremely slowly (loading pages), if at all. There is no way it is the bandwidth being used up either, the company i work for has a very large pipe and this is computer specific. I'm convinced its either to do with tabs or memory; so i open a window with maybe 3/4/5 tabs, loading pages no problems, streaming a youtube vid, reading a forum, reading the bbc.com site etc, then suddenly ill click a link, maybe another video, or a new news story and it just wont load, this then effects all the tabs, none of them will load anything new.
More often than not they eventually time out all togather, sometimes it kicks in and loads again. During the time when its not working i can happily load another IE window and it will load pages fine, i can open 2 or three more windows and they will all load. As i said sometimes the window will fix itself and will start loading pages again. Ok so i've monitered cpu, memory and a whole range of networking stuff during this problem. For the broken window the memory seems VERY static, maybe its not a problem, the cpu has never been of any concern, the networking shows when the problem occurs outgoing and incoming stops almost completely, i also monitored lost and errors in the packets neither of which showed anything to worry about. other users are also suffering from this problem, and people who dont 'do' tabbed browsing dont seem to be experiencing it.... has anyone heard of this?? got any ideas/solutions?? edit: one other thing which i have realised just recently is that many of the users that it effects the worse, all have to view 2 or 3 sites which auto refresh quite often. so maybe its down to number of times refreshing and tabs? any ideas much appreciated :D |
