Internet Explorer using 99% CPU
Hi. I'm using IE 7 in Win XP with service pack 3.
THe browser starts and works fine until I visit a particular webpage. Then everything gets real slow, and I can see in the Task Manager that iexplore is using 99% of CPU. If I close that page all comes back to normal. The page is http://veja.abril.com.br/blogs/reinaldo, it is a simple blog and this problem only started yesterday. Here is a HijackThis log, done in normal mode: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 15:11:37, on 11/09/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16705) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgemc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Virgin Net Broadband\Dragdiag.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\Quick Launch Buttons\EabServr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live\WLLoginProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Mulberry v3\Mulberry.exe C:\Documents and Settings\marcel\My Documents\Utilitarios\HiJackThis.exe R0 - Re: Internet Explorer using 99% CPU
Try setting the 'iexplore.exe' process to 'low' or 'below normal.' That should make the CPU usage drop drastically, though it may affect your browsing slightly.
How to do this: Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then when the Task Manager pops up, click the 'Processes' tab near the top. Find the process 'iexplore.exe' and right click -> set priority -> below normal or low. Hope this helps! |
