Personally , I would not recommend deleting IE. I use Firefox almost exclusively, but I have come across sites that I could not access properly because I was using firefox (and I have downloaded many plugins for firefox). In those very few cases I had to use IE... I'm not sure about it causing system probs though.

Right on, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Don't delete IE, it is interwound with most of your other window systems.

Use FF extensions like IE View to visit sites that FF doesn't like! (ie. Windows Update) And Firefox View.

I would also say, deleting IE is a bad bad idea.

If you're still concerned about security, go into IE, tools->options, privacy tab, set it to block all cookies. Then go to the security tab and set it to high.

Like the others said, don't delete it.
Deleting it would make you unable to access Windows Update and you will need it sometimes. I promise you that you will need it sometimes.

If you have the other security progs necessary to a safe journey on the web, having IE lying there, mostly dormant, will not be a problem. Make sure and grab the updates for it, though, when you are doing other updates, just in case you do need to go out there with it.
