Pop up error messages and "Free antivirus removal tool popup" how do I remove ??

Hi all my computer has been playing up today when ever I open internet explorer 6 and go to another page its fine for about 20 seconds then an error message pops up regarding spyware/antivirus software then I click no and it redirects the page to a free antivirus page.
I have tried scanning for viruses and spyware with Mcaffe, viruses and spyware with AVG (picked up a few and removed) and also tried spybot which picked up heaps but the problem is still there.
I have been through the control panel and there is no software that shouldnt be there and have tried my best looking through the program files .

Please help me I am out of ideas.

I have downloaded another internet viewing program and thats working but if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

Hey Shane, I've done that twice, shame on me. I have XP sp2 and I just did a system restore from earlier in the day and it removed that trash. It will also remove any other software you installed since the last restore but it will be a small price to pay to get you system back to normal. It will not delete any data, just software. If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.
