Question Flash codec?

When I use Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer at the same time a download window opens offering me to download Windows Media Player Flash Codec Plugin from www.flashcodec.com, I choose save but AVG antivirus reports it as a trojan and the download gets interrupted, this keeps poping out, it's annoying and stops WMP from working, also when it happends IE temporary opens a new tab with adress "http://isvbr.net/?t=3&embedded=false"(When I open it I get the download link). Got any idea what to do to stop this, I recently performed a clean Windows reinstall and don't actually remember if I missed installing something, is the pop up safe(not a trojan) and AVG is mistaken? Shall I turn him off and download the thing?

I use Windows Media Player 10 and Internet Explorer 7.

Re: Flash codec?

I would definitely not download that plugin. As far as I know, flash isn't playable in WMP; you have to run it either with the adobe plugin or with some other program. I think VLC might be able to play FLV files without any third-party add-ons.

Re: Flash codec?

Don't see how that helps Fox. :(
I noticed that I don't need to use Internet Explorer, the download pops up when I just use Windows Media Player about every 1-2 minute, stops the WMP from playing so I can't ignore it.
I use WMP for *.mp3 music is there a codec or something I should install (I'm kinda a PC idiot).

Re: Flash codec?

Oh, that means your computer's infected with some sort of spyware. I recommend reading this post and then posting a log in that forum. Hopefully somebody can then assist you in removing whatever got on.
