Unwanted ads forever popping up

Hi - my apologies if this is an old question, but whenever I'm on the web, I'm constantly interrupted by unwanted windows opening advertising holdiays, betting, loans etc. It's happening right now, in fact, making it hard to get anything done.

Anyone know the cause, or a suitable fix?

do you have an antivirus, malware or adware detecting software?

it seems like a problem with malware and adware infestation. if you do have the above software run them and post back with the results.
