[SOLVED] Microsoft I.E. update

Hello Everyone!

I am your newest newbie! (XP Prof: SP2)

I have just had Belarc Advisor installed. It informs me that the update
KB939653-IE7 is missing and has to be re-installed.

On checking, it seems that this is an update for I.E.7. (I'm probably wrong, but I'll continue anyway!) it also probably does not apply to me, I am running I.E.6. Also, because of the great problems that I had with trojans etc, I have installed Firefox and am using it most of the time.

To return to the original problem, when I checked this update, I note that another update has been added later, which supercedes the one that I mention. However, my Belarc Advisor states that I should re-install.

I would be grateful if you can offer any advice in this matter. I don't want to install things just because they are not there - they may be irrelevant!

Thank you!

Re: Microsoft I.E. update

Hello and welcome to TSF

I reckon it could be that you dont have IE7 installed. MS would say you need updates for IE if IE7 is not installed.

Re: Microsoft I.E. update

Go The Power,

Many thanks for the welcome, and advice.

I shall ignore the "advice" to re-install, and just carry on as normal. (If it blows up - I'll come back for instructions on a "re-build!")

regards,

matador
